WEDDING CAKE TRADITION
We all know that a wedding cake is the traditional cake served at wedding following the ceremony dinner. Wedding cakes have been present at wedding ceremonies for centuries. Traditionally, wedding cakes are made to bring good luck to all guests and the couple. In modern wedding baking, they are more of a centerpiece to the wedding, usually built as a three-layer wedding cake with pillar for the bride and groom to share by cutting of the cake as a task full of wedding symbolism.

SD cakes is run by Saima Hebel and her husband David Hebel. They specialize in designing a very unique and creative wedding cakes to showcase that WOW factor with bold colors and intricate details turning these creations into dreamy wedding cake designs and fascinating art of beauty.
THEIR STORY
Since childhood, Saima was incredibly fascinated by different exotic flowers
and fashion designs. She began to put this passion into perspective
by drawing different Henna designs on a paper. Her love for this grew day
by day and finally, in 2010, she started learning about cake decoration while baking at ‘Brennan’s Cook Shop’ in County Cork, where they offer PME professional courses.
That was the beginning of Saima' s cake adventure and after completing the Diploma in Cake Decorating, Saima decided to turn this talent into a business creating the cakes of your dreams using an incredible creativity, inspirations and skills.
INSPIRATION
Saima is taking inspirations and ideas everywhere and they come in many forms and styles.
From modern fashion, nature, flowers, bridal wear, bridal shoes, bags, paintings and more.
She says that wedding dresses have a beautiful fashionable details like lace or floral accents which help her designing a unique and eye-catching wedding cakes.
However the biggest source of her cake inspiration comes from the nature and flowers.
Saima loves flowers the most and these floral inspirations are definitely the main creative factor when it comes to design the cake with the joy and pleasure that she is finding in decorating and handcrafting sugar flowers.
As a child, Saima was always fascinated by flowers, decorating her house walls with flower paintings. To understand this passion you would have to see this exotic and mysterious floral world through Saima’s eyes.
This is truly amazing baking passion and she enjoys every moment.
